Hon. Ernie Hudson

Ernie Hudson was first elected as the MLA for District 26, Alberton - Bloomfield, in the general election of 2019 and was re-elected on April 3rd, 2023.
Ernie is a graduate of the Nova Scotia Agricultural College and the University of Guelph, worked in West Prince for a number of years with the Department of Agriculture and operated the family dairy farm in Cascumpec for 27 years.
Ernie has worked as a constituency manager for Egmont MP, Hon. Gail Shea, and as chief of staff in the Opposition Office. He previously served as a steward and trustee of O’Leary United Church and a board member of the Rev. WJ Philips Residence, a community care facility in Alberton. He is also the past chair of the West Prince Health Board.
In May 2019, he was appointed minister of Social Development and Housing. In February 2021, he was sworn in as minister of Health and Wellness. In April 2023, he took on the role of minister of Transportation and Infrastructure.
Ernie lives in Fortune Cove. He has two adult daughters who live with their husbands in Cascumpec, and four grandchildren.
