Pages are high school students who work in the Chamber during the session. Each Island high school selects one grade 11 or 12 student to serve as a Page each year. Their duties include delivering messages and papers between members and staff, serving refreshments to members and staff in the Chamber, photocopying, and other duties as required.
University interns
The Legislative Assembly hires two student interns per year through a partnership with the UPEI Department of Political Science. These interns work at the Assembly during the fall and spring academic semesters. They are under the supervision of Library and Research Services and assist with many different tasks in different areas of the Assembly, such as research, committee support, administration, and special projects.
In the summer months the Assembly hires a University Intern – Visitor Guide. The post-secondary student in this position performs similar duties as the academic year student interns, but also greets and interacts with visitors to the Legislative Assembly Chamber to tell them about the role, function and history of the Legislative Assembly. The Legislative Assembly often hires this student through the PERCÉ program of the Réseau de développement économique et d’employabilité de l’Île-du-Prince-Édouard (RDÉE).
