Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, November 17, 2020 – The Honourable Colin LaVie, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, and Joseph Jeffrey, Clerk of the Legislative Assembly were in attendance at a swearing-in ceremony for new member Zachery Bell, MLA for District 10: Charlottetown-Winsloe, on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. in the Legislative Assembly Chamber, Honourable George Coles Building, Charlottetown.
Prior to assuming a designated seat on the floor of the House, all Members must swear, or solemnly affirm, the Oath of Allegiance as required in the Constitution Acts 1867 to 1982, Section 128. Pursuant to direction received from Her Honour, the Lieutenant Governor, this Oath will be administered by the Clerk and Clerks Assistant of the Legislative Assembly. The new Member will swear that he will be faithful and bear true allegiance to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second, Queen of Canada, Her Heirs and Successors according to law.
