The Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island is seeking applications for the position of Information and Privacy Commissioner. This role serves as an independent officer of the Legislative Assembly. The responsibilities of the Commissioner are defined under both the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, and the Health Information Act.
Key Responsibilities
Provides independent oversight of public bodies’ and health custodians’ decisions and actions relating to access to information and protection of personal privacy.

Qualifications
law degree from a recognized university;
proven experience in interpreting and applying laws, regulations, and case law to diverse and often complex scenarios, ensuring sound decision-making;
extensive senior leadership experience;
excellent understanding of access and privacy principles and administrative fairness;
in-depth legal knowledge with a demonstrated history of making high-level decisions;
expertise in handling interactions with tact, discretion, and strong judgment, addressing issues proactively and effectively;
exceptional communication and public speaking abilities.
