UPEI Internship
The Legislative Assembly Internship is run in partnership with the Department of Political Science at the University of Prince Edward Island. Students are selected by the department at the university for the position.
The internship provides students the opportunity to gain real-world, practical knowledge of the provincial legislature from the perspective of the non-partisan, permanent staff who support its operation. In addition to daily assigned tasks and research projects, students are encouraged to pursue projects within their areas of academic interest as an opportunity to apply their political science knowledge in a work environment.
Eligible students must be in their fourth year of political science at UPEI. Two students are selected to participate each school year, one for each semester. During their internship, students work at the Office of the Legislative Assembly, meeting the staff, working on research, and supporting the standing committees. The application process starts in January of third year.
If you have questions about the program, please contact the UPEI Department of Political Science.
